to fill a vacancy shall serve only for the unexpired term. Members <br />shall hold office until their successors shall have been appointed <br />and qualify, and any member shall be eligible for reappoln~ment to <br />succeed himself. The term of any member who is also a full time <br />employee of a participating political subdivision shall expire upon <br />his ceasing such employment. Each member may receive compensation <br />of $25 per meeting attended but not to exceed $600 per year, oz such <br />other compensation as may be denermined from time to time by resolutions <br />of the governzng bodies of the member political subdivisions, but <br />any member who is a full time salaried employee of the political sub- <br />division by wbich he was appo}nted shall serve without compensation. <br />Each member shall be reimbursed the amount of his actual expenses <br />necessarily incurred in the performance of his duties. <br /> (d) The purpos~ for whCch the Authority is nc he formed <br /> is to acquire, finance, construct, operate and maintain fmcilities <br /> for developing s supply of potable water fox the long-range ~eeds <br /> of th~ Seutheastern Virginia Planning District, including sources <br /> of water supply, water intakes, reservoirS, filnration and purifi- <br /> cation plants, pumping stations, transmission lines and storage. <br /> facilities, together with all appurtenant equipment and appliances <br /> necessary or suitable therefor and ali properties, rights, easements <br /> or franchises relating thereto and deemed necessary or convenient by <br /> the Authority for their operation. <br /> The Authority may contract with the ineorporating political <br /> subdivisions, any sanitary district nhereof or any authority therein <br /> created pursuant to the Act to furnis~ water upon such terms as the <br /> Authority shall determine; provided, however, that the same schedule <br /> of water rates, shall be applicable to all such political subdivisions. <br /> The Authority is expressly prohibited from contracting with any other <br /> <br /> <br />
