A RESOLUTZON TO PROVIDE FOR A SP~C_.AL~ ~ JOINT MEETING OF THH PLAN- NING CO~E'4ISSION AND CITY COUNCIL TO CONS!DER.A REQUEST FOR A USE PE_rh~!IT BY ~AP, YVtHW HOSPITAL. WHEREAS, Mar~¢iew Hospital is presently located in a district zoned residential; and WHERE,'AS, PL~ryview Hospital was built prior to the es- tablishment of such residential district and is, therefore, de- nominated., as a non-confo_~ming us~' ~ unaer" the present Zoning Ordinance; and Wi~gEREAS, under said Zoning Ordinance, non-conforming uses are generally ~ "2~ -- pronlD~_ed from expansion; and WHEREAS, Maryview Hospital desires to expand its facilities and the Zoning Ordinance provides that such a hos- pital rcay become a conforming use if it is granted a use per- mit for such residential zoning district; and ~HER~AS, Maryview Hospital must obtain suck use permit in order to expand its facitities~ and ~FHEREAS Maryview Hospital ~ · ~ **as requested that because of the exlgencies of its proposed construction schedute~ its petition for a use permit be considered at a joint meeting of the Planning Co-~.ission and City Council; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-42 of ~ ~ uh~ Code of Portsmouth, 1973, such a deviatlon from its normal scheduled meetings requires a special resolution granting same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, does hereby provide that a special joint meeting of the Planning Co-.-~ission and City Council be held at 7:00 P.M., April 23, !974, prior to its regularly scheduled meeting~ in the City Council Chambers, Fourth Floor, Municipal Building, High Street, for the purpose of entertain- ing a petition by ~,~ryview Hospital for the granting of a use permit. · .
