37 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CONCERN OF THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGtNIA~ TO PETITION OF NORFOLK AND <br />?~ESTERif RAILROAD AND NORFOLK-FP~ANKLIN ~qD DA2~VILLE RAIL- <br />ROAD FOR ~ INCREASE OF TARIFFS TO INCLUDE SWITCHING CHARGES <br />INCURRED FROM CHARGES BY NORFOLK AND PORTSMOUTH BELT LINE <br />RAILROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Norfolk And Western Railroad and Norfolk- <br />Franklin And Danville Railroad have requested a tariff in- <br />crease to absorb switching charqes incurred by them from <br />Norfolk And Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said proposed increase will be added <br />to the line haul rate for all crushed aggregate trans- <br />ported by the Norfolk And Western Railroad to the Hampton <br />Roads Area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said propgsed increase will raise haul <br />rates approximately Sixty-Two and O0/100 ($62.00) Dollars <br />per car load to those customers situated in the South <br />Hampton Roads Area of Tidewater. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council <br />of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, that the City Council <br />expresses its concern resulting in the proposed increase <br />of tariffs by Norfolk ~d Western Railroad and Norfolk- <br />Franklin And Danville Railroad to include switching <br />charges incurred from the Norfolk And Portsmouth Belt <br />Line Railroad. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is <br />instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to the <br />Southern Freight Association, Room C~ Suite 320, 151 <br />Ellis Street, N.
