A RESOLUTION-PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A' REGIC~LAL GROUP HOME COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the City of Chesapeake, City of Portsmouth, City of Virginia Beach, City of Suffolk, City of Franklin, County of Isle of Wight, and County of Southampton desire to provide for the es*ahlishment of a regional group home c~m,4ssion; and ~EtE~AS, the establishment of said regional group hc~e cc~mission requires that concurrent resolutions be approved by the governing bodies of each of said political subdivisions. NOW, Tki~uEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: (t) That there is hereby es*~blished a Regional Guoup Home Cc~- r~ission to be known as Tidewater Regional Group Home Cc~nissic~, which said Coumission shall be a public body corporate with such powers and duties as are set forth in Section 16.1-202.1 through Section 16.1-202.9 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended. (2) Said group hc~e c~,~ssion, using PDC 20 projected populations for 1980, sbmll consist of two (2) msmbers frc~ the City of Virginia Beach, two (2) members £rc~ the City of Chesapeake, two (2) members from the City of Suffolk, two (2) members frc~ the City of Porb-~aouth, one (1) member from the City of Franklin, one (1) msmber frcm the County of Isle of Wight and one (1) member frcm the County of Southampton. Said members to be appointed by the governing bodies of each political sub- division in the manner provided by Section 16.1-202.4 of the Cede of Virginia of 1950, as amended. The Judge of the Juvenile ~nd Domestic Relations Court in each participatir~ political subdivtsien shall be an ex officio member of the cu~,L~tssion. (3) As members of the commission, each jurisdiction further agrees, to the extent it may legally do so,. that they will appropriate and make available to the c~uission the funds, which when added ~to the slams as may be available to tb~ cu~L,~ssion by the Cu~uonwealth of Virginia, will be sufficient to defray the cost of operating and maintaining the fac~ 1 ~ ties of the group home cc~mission.
