~6 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APP~ THE DEVELOPMENT P/AN AND C(1MMITT/NG TO APPROPRIATE <br />FUNDS NECESSARY TO ACQUIRE, AT FAIR MA/hKE~ VALINE, THE COAST GUARD BUOY <br />BASE AT FIRST AND RANDOLPH STREETS /N ~'~ SIMPLE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the U. S. Coast Guard Bouy Base at First and Randolph <br />Streets has been determined to be government surplus property and is <br />available for disposal by the General Services Acl~inistration; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this City, in order to increase its tax base, has stead- <br />lastly pursued the acquisition of said Coast Guard Base for a deep water <br />industrial site; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to accomplish this, large su~s of money have been expended <br />planning and developing the adjacent areas as a support for a deep water <br />J_ndustrial site; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in addition, this City in such adjacent areas in conjunction <br />with the City of Norfolk, has been successful in securing the designation <br />for eoonc~ic development from the U. S. Department of Ccrarerce. <br /> <br /> N~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virg~a, that it approves the development plan and commits to <br />paying sufficient funds to acquire, at fair market value, the Coast <br />Guard Buoy Base at First and Randolph Streets in Fee Simple. <br /> <br /> BE IT ~ RESOLVED that procedures have cc~renced to amend the <br />zoning map of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, to change the zoning of <br />said U. S. Coast Guard Base from U. S. Government to heavy industrial. <br />Such amendment will be accomplished on or before June 28, ~1977. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a <br />meeting held-May. 10, 1977. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
