63 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE STATE WATER CONTROL BOARD'S PLAN <br />AND FUNDING ALLOCATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MUNICIPAL WASTE <br />WATER TREATMENT PLANTS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is under the mandate of <br />the Environmental Protection Agency to upgrade the Pinners <br />Point Sewage Treatment Plant to a secondary treatment level by <br />July 1, 1983; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />federal funds <br />the upgrading <br /> <br />the Environmental Protection Agency has directed <br />to the Virginia State Water Control Board for <br />of municipal water treatment projects; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia State Water Control Board has form- <br />ulated a plan and funding allocation for construction of mun- <br />icipal waste water treatment ~plants; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under such plan there is~ sufficient funds to <br />construct the necessary improvements at the Pinners Point <br />Sewage Treatment Plant. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth,-Virginia, that it endorses the expeditious approval <br />and funding of the Pinners Point Sewage Trea'tment Plant upgrading <br />and commencing no later than October i, 1979. <br /> <br /> BE IT FUATHER RESOLVED that the State' Water Control Board <br />is urged to consider additional funding for the urgently needed <br />projects requested by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District <br />which also serves the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, <br />at a meeting held September 12, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
