A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TOPROVIDE INFOR- <br />MATION AND TO APPLY TO THE VIRGINIA CO}~4ISSIO~ OF OUTDOOR <br />RECREATION FOR FUNDING OF THE VIRGINIA CONSERVATION AND/OR <br />RECREATION PARK PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation <br />provides funds to assist political subdivisions of the State <br />of Virginia in improving and developing open space, park lands, <br />and recreation facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are urgent needs within the City of Ports- <br />mouth to provide employment for Young Adults; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is deemed of <br />high improvement and/or development priority by said City, and <br />shall be referred to as the Portsmouth Parks and Recreation De- <br />partment; and the current unemployment rate is 6.6%; and <br /> <br /> W~LEREAS, the proportionate project share is funded up to <br />100 percent (100%) by the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Re- <br />creation. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> That the City Manager is hereby authorized to cause such <br />information or materials as may be necessary to be provided <br />to the appropriate State Agency to permit the formulation, <br />approval and funding of the Parks and Recreation Department <br />project. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia gives its assurance that its unemployment rate is <br />currently 6.6%. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth, Viz- <br />ginia will abide by all applicable State and Federal regulations <br />governing ~such expenditure of funds provided by the Virginia Com- <br />mission of Outdoor R~reation. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Departments of Agriculture <br />and Interior and the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation <br />are respectfully requested to assist in the prompt approval and <br />funding of the City of Portsmouth, ~irginia Conservation and/or <br />Recreation Park Project in order to enhance the standard of en- <br />joyment for all our citizenry. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held June 27, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City ~Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
