10 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANA~ TO APPLY FOR A GRALVf FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF Pt%CMOTING ENFORC~45~T OF ~qE ANTI LY~ CONTROL PROGRAM. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the existence of a litter <br />proble~ within the boundaries of the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the Virginia Litter Control Act of 1976 provides, through <br />the Department o~ Conservation and Economic Development, Division of <br />Litter Control, for the allocation of public funds in the fo~m of grants <br />for the purpose of prCmoting enforcement of the anti-litter statutes and <br />ordinances and for the purpose of enhancing local litter control progz~¥s; <br />and <br /> <br /> W~, the City Council have reviewed and considered the regulatioD~ <br />and the application covering the Administration and use of said funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVHD by the Council of the Cit3, of PortS- <br /> mouths Virginia, that it hereby endorses and supports such a pz~gram for <br /> the City of Portsmouth as indicated in the attached application Form <br />- LCG-1. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHH~ RESOLVED that the City ~nager is authorized_ to plan, <br />budget and apply for a grant, which if approved, will be used to fund <br />said program. <br /> <br /> ~E IT FURIXqER RESOLVED that the Department of ~mnservation and <br />Economic Development, Division of Litter Control, is requested to consider <br />and approve said application program, said program being in accord with <br />the regulations governing use and expenditure of said funds. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a <br />meeting held February 7, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
