49 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY ALL RIGHT, <br />TITLE AND INTEREST OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH IN AND TO CERTAIN <br />PROPERTY KNO~ AS THE OLD WEST NORFOLK BRIDGE° <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, the City Manager, having been duly authorized, did <br />advertise and receive bids for the ourchase of land, and the im- <br />provements thereon, hereinafter described, on June i, 1979; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Associated Naval Architects, Incorporated~ submitted <br />a proposal to purchase the property and existing improvements for <br />the sum of Three ~undred Dollars-($300.00) and coIm~itted to make <br />a capital expenditure on the land and pier in excess of Thirty <br />Thousand Dollars [$30,000) to include demolition of ~edestrian <br />walkaway, fender piling, fencing and installation of ~tilities <br />required' for lighting and other services and to use the property <br />as a ~i~r st-ructure for ~se 'in connect±on wlt~ maritime related <br />industry including boat and ship repair activities; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, the City Council has determined that the hereinafter <br />property ms excess to the requirements of tke City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 'City Council..has determined that the proposal <br />of Ass~ciated Naval Krchftects~ Incorporated; is the best use to <br />which said property ~ay he 'adapted. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of %he City of <br /> Portsmouth, ¥irginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, <br /> authorized to convey all right, title and interest of the City of <br /> Portsmouth in and to the hereinafter described property to Associ- <br /> ated Nava~ Architects~ Incorporated: <br /> <br />All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, <br />with the i~rovements thereon, and the appurtenances <br />thereunto belonging, bounded and described as follows: <br />Beg±nning at a point'on the ~astern side 'of West <br />Norfolk Road (Third Avenue) 290' south of the south- <br />eastern intersect±on of West Norfolk Road and Ship- <br />wright Street (formerly Washington Street), as layed <br />out on the ~ap of ~est Norfolk, made by Grimes and <br />~argroves, in tke year 1889, recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of the C±rcu±t Court of the City of Chesapeake, <br />-¥irginia, t~ence, e~sterly and at right a~gles to said <br />~est NorfOlk Road 25~; thence, parallel with said West <br />Norfolk Road and southerly to the Port Warden's line <br />in th~ 'Elizabeth River; thence, westerly along said <br />Port Warden's line 25', more or less, to the eastern <br />side of West ~orfolk Road; thence, northerly along <br />the eastern side of West Norfolk Road to the point <br />of beginning, together with all the water pri~i!eges, <br />riparian rights and appurtenances in any way <br />appertaining or belonging to said land. <br /> <br /> <br />
