A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE DEVELO~MEN~T OF~CERTAIN ~ROPERT~ AS <br />AN INDUSTRIAL ~ITE BY PRIVATE EN~ ~PRISE~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, p~oposals have been made for~the development of <br />a petroleum refinery and a eoa~l shipmentfacilityto be located <br />on certain property'in the City of Por%smou~hno~ 0wned~by <br />Trailsend Land Company; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council' of the~,City Of PortsmOuth has Eon- <br />sistently supported development ,~of~roPerty within the C~ty <br />by private enterprise as a method~of~expanding the tax base <br />of the City and ~he betterment~$ez~ices ~o i%~ Citizens; <br />and hereby reaffirms its support for ~e~eto~entof the <br />subject propertyin a similar m~nner; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth desires <br />to express its concern over the continuous delay in the proposed <br />developmentef'the subject property-thereby deferring a re- <br />solution of many problemsJ~onfron~i~g ~he City as well as the <br />· Ports of Hampton Roads; and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that said Council does hereby endorse <br />and reaffirm development of that certain property owned by Trailsend <br />Land Company, containing approximately six hundred acres (600), as <br />an industrial ~ite by private enterprise. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a meeting between the Governor <br />of Virginia and a delegation of this Council be scheduled <br />promptly in order that the position of the ~ity of Portsmouth <br />be made known and to discuss the present action taken by <br />the Virginia Port Authority. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held December 18, 1980. <br /> <br />.Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
