39 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS POR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION <br />OF AN ALLEY ON THE EAST SIDE OF MARINER AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application <br />to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described <br />portion of a certain public alley, and it appearing that <br />notice of application and request for the appointment of <br />viewers was duly posted on May 7, 1982, on the bulletin <br />board of the City Hall Building of the City of Portsmouth, <br />the General District Court, Civil Division, of the City of <br />Portsmouth, and the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEP~FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that A. N. Kendrick, C. L. <br />Knight, J. R. Wilkerson, Howard L. Davis, and George N. <br />Powers, Sr. be appointed viewers, and that C. E. Ellis and <br />Clinton J. Fortune be appointed alternate viewers in the <br />event one of the preceding viewers fails to participate, <br />said viewers to view the hereinafter-described portion of <br />such street and to report to this Council in writing whether <br />in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would <br />result in vacating and closing the following: <br /> <br />S-82-6 <br /> <br /> A twenty (20) foot portion or strip of an <br />alley which is located on the eastern side of <br />Mariner Avenuer formerly Fourth Avenue, beginning <br />at a point on the eastern side of Mariner Avenue <br />said point being the point of intersection of <br />the southern boundary of Lot 309 as shown on the <br />plat of West Norfolk and thence eas~ one hundred <br />(i00) feet along the southern boundary of said <br />lot 309 to the true point of beginning~ thence <br />east and parallel with Broadway Street one hundred <br />fifty (150) feet to a point; thence north and~ <br />parallel with Mariner Avenue twenty (20) feet to <br />a point; thence west and parallel with Broadway <br />Street one hundred fifty (150) feet to a point; <br />thence south and parallel with Mariner Avenue <br />twenty (20) feet to the point of beginning. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held May 25, 1982. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
