24 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SELL CERTAIN OFFICE FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT TO THE CITY OF SUFFOLK FOR THE SUM OF $1,475. WHEREAS, pursuant to a contract between the City of Portsmou~ and the City of Suffolk effective July 1, 1982, the. City of Portsmouth will no longer operate and maintain an office at the City Hall of the City of Suffolk for the purpose of collecting and administering public utility accounts for residents of the City of Suffolk; and WHEREAS, the City of Suffolk has made an offer to purchase the office furniture and equipment owned by the City of Portsmouth and presently located in said office in the City Hall of the City of Suffolk; and WHEREAS, said equipment has been independently appraised at a value of One Thousand, Four Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($1,475.); and WHEREAS, said furniture and equipment is no longer required by the City of Portsmouth for its purposes and use and hereby is deemed to be excess furniture and equipment; and WHEREAS, Section 2~O9(c) of the Charter,of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ 1973, as amended, providas that the City may sell any of its property to the Com/uonwealth of Virginia or any political subdivision thereof without advertisement and without receiving bids; and WHEREAS, the City of Suffolk is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and here hereby is, authorized to sell certain office furniture and equipment as hereinafter designated to the City of Suffolk for the sum of One Thousand, Four Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($1,475.).
