55 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ~APPROVING AMW. NDMENT NO. 13 TO THE CRAW-FORD <br />REDEVELOPMENT pI2~N FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August <br /> 1, 1967, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford <br /> Urban ~enewal Project~ Portsmouth, Virginia~ and <br /> <br /> ~q~EREAS, there kas been presented'to this body for <br /> consideration and approval, a cgpy of an amended ~Redeve!opment <br /> Plan for-the project area dated June, 1982, which plan consists <br /> of 22 pages and 3~ex~ibits; and <br /> <br /> ~W~EREAS, Ame~d~en~ No. i13 proposes to add certain property <br /> to the project ~rea;·and <br /> <br /> hq{ERieS, 'Amendment No. 13-has been carefully reviewed <br /> and said Redevelopment Plan conforms to the Comprehensiv~ <br /> Plan for tke City of Portsmouth adopted June, 1980, and <br /> which $~rves as a general guide for development of the City <br /> of ~ort~nouth as a whole; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and ~ousing'Authority <br />~has r~s~Ived that ~his Amendment is in.the best interest of <br /> the Cit "s renewai eff~t; and <br /> WHEREAS, th~s Council is cognizant of the conditions <br /> that are imposed..by. %he provisions of the ~ousing and Co~m~.~nity <br /> Development Act 6~ i974~ as amended, including those prohibiting <br /> discrimination because Of race, age, color, creed, sex or <br /> national origin;~and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS judgment of this Council it is in the <br /> interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br /> Amendment be approved.. <br /> <br /> NOW, TREREFORE', BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. 13 to the Redevelopmen~ PIan <br /> for the Cra~ford Urban Renewal Project, having been duly <br /> reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban <br />Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved <br />by the adoption of said Amendment. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 13 to the Crawford Redevelop- <br />ment Plan conforms to the general plan for the City of Portsmouth <br />as a whole and continues to meet the requirements as a Redevelop- <br />ment Project set forth under Title 36 of ~he Code of Virginia, <br />as amended. <br /> <br /> <br />
