54 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING A~ENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE SOUTHSIDE III <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTHSIDE III REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted Febraury 24, <br />1976, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Southside III <br />Redeveio~ment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> 'W~EP~AS, there~has been presented to this body for <br />conside~at±o- n and approval, a copy of an amended Redevelopment <br />Plan for the project area dated June., 1982, which plan consists <br />of 17 pa~es and 2~exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WSLEREAS,i~Ame~dmen~ No. 2 proposes to add certain property <br />to the p~oject area; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~F~-AS, said Amendment No. 2 has been carefully reviewed <br />and said Redevelopment Plan conforms to the Comprehensive Plan <br />for th~ City of. Portsmouth adopted June, 1980, which is used <br />as a'guide for development of the Cityjof Portsmouth as a <br /> <br /> ~ WHEREA. S, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Autl%ority <br />has resotved that thiS"Amendment is in the best interest of <br />the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ this Council ~s cognizant of.the conditions <br /> that are imposed ~y the. provisions of the H~using and Co~m~u~nity <br /> DeveloPment Act O~ ~974~ as amended~includ~ng those prohibiting <br /> discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or <br /> national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, i~ the judgment of this Council it is in the <br /> interest of the~City and its inhabitants that the said <br /> A~endment be approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Ci~y~ <br /> of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That~Amendment No. 2 to the Redevelopment Plan-for <br />the Southside III Redevelopment Project, having been duly <br />reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Southside III <br />Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better <br />achieved by the adoption of said Amendment. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 2 for the project area <br />conforms to the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Portsmouth <br />as a whole and continues to meet the requirements as a <br />Redevelopment Project under Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> <br />
