52 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 5 TO THE MOUNT HE~4ON CONSERVATION AND R~DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE MOUNT HERMON CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. ~EREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 16, !972r a~proved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia~ and WHERF~AS, there has been presented to this body, for consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Land Use Map of the Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the project area dated June, 1982; and WI~ERF~S, Amendment No. 5 proposes to change a parcel of land from Semi-Public to Cormuercial on the Land Use Map. WHEREAS, said~mendment No. 5 has-been carefully reviewed and said Redevelopment Plan conforms to the Comprehensive Plan for the City as a general guide for development of the City as a whole; and WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has resolved that this Amendment is in the best interest of the City's renewal effort; and WHEREAS, this Council. is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the interest of the City and its inkabitants that the said Amendment be approved. NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Amendment No. 5 to the Redevelopment Plan for the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: (a) That the objectives of the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amendment.
