81 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONGP~ATU!~TtONS OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH TO Tp_rE OLIVE BRANCH SENIOR LEAGUE <br />ALL-STAR TE~M, OLIVE BF3_NCH JD~IOR LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM, <br />CHURCHLAND LITTLE LEAGUE ~L-STAR TEAM, CHURCHLAND PONY LEAGUE <br />ALL-STAR TEY~M, AND CHURCH~ND THOROUGHBRED LEAGUE ALL-STAR <br />TEAM, AND THEIR COACHING STAFFS FOR THEIR HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL <br />1983 BASEBALL SEASONS. <br /> <br /> W~EREAS~ ~ ' ' <br /> u~e Olive Branch Senmor League All-Star Team <br />won the 1983 ~' <br /> ~IStrlCt VI ~ <br /> ~en~ League Championship and <br />ultimately were crowned the '~'~ <br /> Yz~gznma State Senior League <br />Champions as a result of their victory in the State Tournament; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Olive Branch Junior League All-Star Team <br />won the 1983 District Vi Junior Leaque ChampionshiU and <br />represented the City of Portsmouth in the State Tournament; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Churcnla**~m~u~±e L~ague All-Star Team <br />won the ~9~ lstrmct VI Little League Championship and <br />represented the City in the State Tourn~nent; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Churchland Pony League All-Star Team won <br />the 1983 District Championship and Sectional Championship <br />and participated in the Regional Tournament; and <br /> <br /> }~HEM=~S, the Churchland Thoroughbred League Ail-Star <br />Team won the Southeast Regular Season Thoroughbred ChamL, ion- <br />ship and participated in the 1983 Thoroughbred World Series- <br />and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, each of these leagues, by their successful <br />athletic achievements, have represented the City of Portsmouth <br />in a commendable manner; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth recognizes <br />the numerous hours of volunteer effort put forth by many of our <br />citizens towards these and the other Youth Athletic Leagues <br />throughout the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth~ Virginia that the Council hereby extends its <br />congratulations to each of the All-Star Teams, their coaching <br />staffs, and their numerous volunteer participants who assisted <br />in the operation of the Leagues for their outstanding seasons. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held September 13~ 1983. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
