129 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF SUFFOLK. WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain property located in the City of Suffolk which property is no longer required for Public Utility purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and WHEREAS, the of said property stations; and City of Suffolk desires to acquire a portion in order to construct two sewage pumping WHEREAS, the City of Suffolk has agreed to pay the appraised value of said parcels and the cost of the appraisal; and WHEREAS, an independent appraisal has placed a total value of $1,000.00 on the parcels; and WHEREAS, Section 2o09(c) of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth provides that the City may convey property to the Commonwealth of Virginia or a political subdivision thereof without advertisement and receipt of bids; and WHEREAS, the City of Suffolk is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey to the City of Suffolk, upon receipt of payment of the appraised value and the cost of the appraisal, the following described property, to-wit: Parcel 1 Ail that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in the City of Suffolk, Virginia, bounded and described as follows: beginning at a point on the western boundary of Manning Road, said point being the point of intersection of the western boundary of Manning Road with the southern boundary of Lot 2B as shown on that certain plat entitled "Section No. 1 Barrett Acres" recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Suffolk, Virginia, (formerly Nansemond County) in Deed Book 9, page 55; thence in a westerly direction along the boundary of said Lot 2B 25' to a point; thence soutk and parallel with Manning Road 26' to a point;
