(c) Other vehicles Ninety six (96) inches. <br /> <br /> (d) School buses One hundred (100) inches wide while <br />in motion and one hundred eighteen (118) inches wide while <br />stopped to pick up or discharge students. <br /> <br />Section 23-523. Length of vehicles; special permits. <br /> <br /> No motor vehicle extending in length of forty (40) feet <br />shall be operated on anF highway in the city; providing <br />however, the city manager or his designee, may, by general <br />or special order, which may be amended or reclnded from time <br />to time, permit the operation of passenger buses in excess <br />of thirty-five (35) feet but not exceeding forth (40) feet <br />on certain highways and parts thereof designated by the< <br />city manager. The actual length of any combination of <br />vehicles coupled together including any load thereon, s~all <br />not exceed a total of sixty (60) feet; and no tolerance <br />shall be allowed that exceeds twelve (12) inches; provided <br />further, however, that the city manager or his designee in <br />cases of emergency may issue a special permit for <br />combinations in excess of sixty (60) feet including any load <br />thereon, where the object or objects to be carried cannot be <br />moved otherwise; provided further, that vehicles designed <br />and used exclusively for transDortation of motor vehicles <br />may have an additional overhang not to exceed five (5) feet. <br />Passenger buses m y exceed the forty-foot limitation when <br />such excess length is caused by the projection of a front <br />safety bumper or a rear safety bumper or both. Such safety <br />bumper shall no5 cause the length of the bus to exceed the <br />maximum legal limit by more than 1 foot in the front and 1 <br />foot in the rear. "Safety bumper" means any device which <br />may be fitted on an ex~sting bumper or replacing the bumper <br />and is so constructed, treated or manufactured so it absorbs <br />energy on impact. <br /> <br />Section 23-525. Extension of loads beyond sidesl <br /> <br /> (a) No vehicle shall carry any load extending more <br />than six (6) inches beyond the line of the fender or body, <br />provided such load shall not exceed a total outside width as <br />described in this article. <br /> <br /> (b) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (a) of <br />this section, it shall be lawful for watercraft carried on <br />vehicles to extend more than six (6) inches beyond the line <br />of the fender or body of such vehicle provided that the <br />total width of the watercraft and the carrier upon which the <br />same is so carried does not exceed seventy six (76) inches. <br /> <br /> <br />
