104 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY M~NAGER TO CONVEY CITY-OWNED PROPERTY TO PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT ~D HOUSING AUTHORITY (PORTION OF 2311 GREEN STREET)° WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain real property consisting of a twenty-five foot (25') strip of land located at 2311 Green Street, which property is no longer required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has requested that said property be conveyed to the Housing Authority to be combined with other property for development in connection with the Effingham Redevelopment Project; and WHEREAS, pursuant to ~2.09 (c) of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth property may be conveyed to the CoDmonwealth of Virginia or a political subdivision~thereof without adver- tisement or receipt of bids; and WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. NOW, TF~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey the hereinafter-described property to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, to-wit: Ail that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situated lying, and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at a point on the north side of Garfield Street, formerly Maupin Street, (now closed) 90' east from the northeast intersection of Garfield Street and Green Street; ~-hence run- ning north parallel with Green Street 25' 6"; thence turning and runnin~ east parallel to Garfield Street 15'; thence running south para- llel to Green S~reet 25' 6", to the north side of Garfield Street; thence west along the north side of Garfield Street 15' to the Point of Be- ginning. Said property being part of Lot 9, Block 44 as shown on the plan of "Brighton". Said parcel being conveyed together with that certain portion of Garfield Street bounded on the west by the estension southwardly of the western line of the above described property, on the north by the above described property, on the east by the extension south~ardly of the eastern line of the above described property and on the south by the center line of Garfield Street.
