are placed by the Department Head, Director of Personnel <br />and approved by the Office of the City Manager. tn no <br />case will an employee retain the same compensation that <br />was received prior to the demotion, or be compensated at a <br />rate less than the minimum for the grade to which demoted. <br /> <br />SECTION 9. Transfers <br /> <br />"%ransfer" shall mean lateral re-assignment of an employee <br />£rom one position classification to another position clas- <br />sification of the same grade. Such transfer may occur <br />within or between departments. Any employee transferred <br />to another class of employment shall receive compensation <br />at the same grade and step received prior to the transfer. <br />The transfer activity may not be used to increase or <br />decrease the salary of the transferred employee. No <br />employee may be transferred witheut the prior approval of <br />the Department Head(s) involved and the Director of Person- <br />nel. <br /> <br />SECTION 10. Overtime <br /> <br />(a~ <br /> <br />Eligibility for overtime compensation shall be deter- <br />mined by the Department Head and the Director of Per- <br />sonnel in accordance with approved personnel practices. <br /> <br />(b) The City Manager may authorize payment for overtime to <br /> any employee. <br /> <br />SECTION 11. Additional Compensation Firefighters and <br /> <br />Police Officers <br /> <br />Any sworn officer of the Fire and Police Departments <br />below the rank of Deputy or Assistant Chief placed on <br />special assignment duty shall be paid at the rate of <br />$15.00 for the first two hours or major portion thereof, <br />and $7.50 for each subsequent hour or major portion <br />thereof. Such additional compensation must be entered <br />by the Chief of the Department on the next succeeding <br />payroll submitted to the Director of Finance. Ail <br />special assignments must be authorized by the Chief of <br />the Department, or during his absence or disability, <br />by his duly authorized designee. Overtime work shall <br />not be considered special assignment duty. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Department <br />who, in his official capacity, when not on regular <br />assigned period of duty, is required to appear in <br />court-, shall be paid at the rate of $15.00 for the <br />first two hours or major portion thereof, and $7.50 <br />for each subsequenr hour or major portion thereof. <br /> <br />-S- <br /> <br /> <br />
