Section 28-20. <br /> <br />Removal of aerial wires, etc.; <br />ex~ceptions; schedule of removal. <br /> <br /> Ail aerial wires, cables and poles, other than <br />distributing wires, wires for municipal decorative <br />lighting and such owned communication and signal wires <br />as in the opinion of the City Manager are necessary to <br />be maintained over head, shall be moved from the streets <br />of the City within the territory defined in the <br />foregoing sections at an approximately uniform, annual <br />rate so as to be accomplished by the following dates. <br />For District I- January 1, 1975. For District II- <br />January 1, 1980. For District III- January 1, 1991. If <br />the proper proportion of construction is not attained in <br />any one year, the deficiency shall be made up during the <br />following year. Each person maintaining and operating <br />pole and wire lines in the City shall submit to the City <br />Manager for his approval a schedule of such work. The <br />City Manager shall so adjust and modify these schedules <br />as to involve the minimum breaking up of street surfaces <br />and inconvenience to the public. <br /> <br />Section 28-21. Maintenance of aerial wires, etc. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful to erect or maintain aerial <br />wires, cables or poles within the underground utility <br />districts above described after the dates applied to the <br />respective districts in the foregoing section. <br /> <br />Section 28-22. <br /> <br />Construction and location of subways, <br />etc.; erection of poles for local <br />distribution. <br /> <br /> (a) Ail newly constructed~bui~di~gs and other <br />structures, whether situated within or without the <br />underground wiring districts set forth in Section 28-19 <br />above, shall be provided with underground electric, <br />telephone and CATV service, except in areas zoned <br />industrial; provided that: (t) equipment such as <br />electric distribution transformerS, switch gear, meter <br />pedestals and telephone pedestals which are normally <br />installed aboveground in accordance with accepted <br />utility practices for underground distribution systems <br />may be so installed; and (2) meters, service <br />connections and similar equipment normally attached to <br />the outside wall of the premises served may continue to <br />be so installed. <br /> <br /> (b) The work of cOnstructing subways and manholes <br />for conduits and of erecting poles fOr local <br />distribution in the location of all such subways, <br />manholes, conduits and poles shall be under the <br />supervision and subject to the approval of the City <br />Engineer or such other person as the City Manager may <br /> <br /> <br />
