35 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTHSIDE PROJECT. 4 TO THE SOUTHSIDE III III REDEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, this Council, by resolution adopted February 24, 1976, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Southside III Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration and approval a copy of an amended Redevelopment Plan for the Project area, which plan consist of seventeen (17) pages and two (2) exhibits; and WHEREAS, Amendment No. 4 proposes to add certain property to the Project area, designate certain properties within the Project area "To Be Acquired" and continue to acquire and assemble property for commercial and residential development; and WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved. the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Amendment No. 4 to the Redevelopment Plan for the Southside III Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: am That the objectives of the Southside iii Redevelopment Project~ Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amendment. b. That Amendment No. 4 to the Southside III Redevelopment Plan meets the requirements as a Redevelopment Project set forth under Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. 2. That Amendment No. 4 to the Southside III Redevelopment Plan for the Southside III Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby approved and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the Minutes of this meeting.
