23 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE TWIN PINES <br /> <br />1 TO THE TWIN PINES <br /> REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted June 9, <br />1981, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Twin Pines <br />Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended <br />Redevelopment Plan for the project area, which plan consists <br />of 9 pages and 2 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 proposes to add certain <br />property to the project area, designate certain properties <br />within the project area "To Be Acquired"; and initiate a <br />program to provide low-interest loans to assist property <br />owners in carrying out rehabilitation work; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority has resolved that this Amendment is in the best <br />interest of the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions <br />that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and <br />Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including <br />those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, <br />creed, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment is approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORK, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth,' Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. 1 to the Redevelopment Plan <br />the Twin Pines Project, having been duly reviewed and <br />considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br />for <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Twin Pines <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the <br />of said Amendment. <br /> <br />Project, <br />adoption <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. ! for the project area meets <br />the r~quirements as a Redevelopment Project under Title 36 of <br />the Code of Virglnza, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2. That Amendment No. 1 to the Plan for the Twin Pines <br />Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby <br />approved and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy <br />of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
