75 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF EARL W. STEWART, JR. <br />AND SUSAN STEWART TO PURCHASE CITY-'OWNED PROPERTY ON <br />(MELVIN DRIVE); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter <br />described real property which is no longer required for <br />public purposes, and is, hereby, declared to be excess <br />property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS,. pursuant to the requirements of ~2.09 of <br />the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, said <br />property has been advertised f~r sale; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Earl W. Stewart~ Jr. and Susan Stewart <br />have submitted a bid to purchase said property for the <br />sum of $1,200.00 for the purpose of constructing an <br />addition to their residential structure at 904 Melvin <br />Drive; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said bid and the proposed use of the <br />property comply in all respects to the requirements of <br />the advertisment for sale; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Assessor has appraised the value <br />of said property at Sl,000.00; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth <br />deems it to be in the best £nterest of the City to <br />convey said property for the use and purpose herein <br />stated. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of Earl <br />W. Stewart, Jr. and Susan Stewart to purchase cit~-owned <br />property on Melvin Drive for the sum of $1,200.00 be, <br />and the same hereby i~,_~ccepted. Said property is more <br />particularly described as follows: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain, piece or parcel of <br />land, situate, lying and being in the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point which is the- <br />intersection of the line dividing ~ots 79 and <br />80 as shown on that certain plat entitled <br />"Replat of Lots 17-18-and 79 thru 83, Section <br />1 and Lots 84 thru 87 Section 2 Pine Acres, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, recorded in'the Clerk's <br />Office of the Circuit Court of Chesapeake, <br />Virginia in Map Book 39-Page 95", and the <br />western boundary line of Melvin Drive as shown <br /> <br /> <br />
