4 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTHSIDE <br />PROJECT. <br /> <br />2 TO THE SOUTHSIDE IV <br />IV REDEVELOPMENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 9, <br />1978, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Southside IV <br />Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended <br />Redevelopment Plan for the project area, which Plan consists <br />of 12 pages and 2 exhibits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 2 proposes to add certain <br />property to the project, and to change the Land Use Plan to <br />allow for commercial, residential and mixed reuses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority has resolved that this Amendment is in the best <br />interest of the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions <br />that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and <br />Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including <br />those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, <br />color, creed, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment is approved. <br /> <br />the <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Amendment No. 2 to the Redevelopment Plan for <br />the Southside IV Redevelopment Project, having been duly <br />reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Southside IV <br />Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better <br />achieved by the adoption of said Amendment. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 2 for the pro]ect area <br />meets the requirements as a Redevelopment Pro2ect under <br />Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2. That Amendment No. 2 to the Southside IV <br />Redevelopment Plan for the Southside IV Redevelopment <br />Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby <br />approved and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a <br />copy of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
