49 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF LEOLA B. PIERCE TO PURCHASE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY. WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter described real property which is no longer required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and WHEREAS, said property has been advertised for sale pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.09 of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and WHEREAS, the highest bid was that of Leola B. Pierce the amount of $15,000. for the purpose of constructing two single family homes on the subject property; and in WHEREAS, said bid is in compliance with the terms of the advertisement of sale; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it to be in the best interest of the City to dispose of said property as hereinabove described. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of Leola B. Pierce uo purchase the hereinafter described property for the sum of $15,000. for the purpose of constructing two single family homes be, and the same hereby is, accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby Is, authorized to convey to Leola B. Pierce, upon receipt of payment of the purchase price, the following described property, to-wit: Ail those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land, situate, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, known, numbered and designated as lots 1, 2, 3 and 4, Block H, on the certain plat entitled "Addition to Prentis Place" recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Map Book 4, page 45. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to sign such deeds or othe~ documents as may be necessary to complete this transaction.
