AN ORDINANCE CLOSING PAUL JONES AVENUE AND AN ADJACENT TEN <br />FOOT ALLEY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Swimming Point Associates has made application <br />to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described <br />portion of Paul JoneS Avenue and an adjacent ten foot alley; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this council adopted July 14, <br />1987, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing the said street and alley; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from the <br />closing and discontinUing of said street and alley. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described <br />portion of Paul Jones Avenue and an adjacent ten foot alley be <br />closed and vacated as public streets. <br /> <br />Paul Jones Avenue <br /> <br /> Paul Jones Avenue, a 30' wide <br />right-of-way, starting at the eastern edge of <br />the Washington Street right-of-way and running <br />approximately 350' east to the Elizabeth River <br />as shown on the plat of Craford Place recorded <br />in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Map Book <br />1, page 35. <br /> <br />Ten Foot Alley <br /> <br /> That portion of a ten foot wide unnamed <br />alley as shown on the plat of Craford Place <br />recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in <br />Map Book 1, page 35, beginning at the <br />intersection of the southern boundary of Paul <br />Jones Avenue and the western boundary of Lot 7 <br />as shown on said plat and extending in a <br />southerly direction approximately 105' to a <br />point which is the intersection of said alley <br />and the southern boundary of Lot 5 as shown on <br />said plat of Craford Place. <br /> <br /> <br />
