102 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CITY-OWNED <br />PROPERTY ON INDUSTRIAL AVENUE AND LEE AVENUE TO THE VIRGINIA <br />PORT AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter described <br />parcels of property, which property is no longer required <br />public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess <br />property; and <br /> <br />for <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Port Authority has offered to <br />purchase said property for the sum of $89,712.00 to be used <br />for expanded container operations in the Port area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.09 (c) of the Charter of the City of <br />Portsmouth provides that property may be conveyed to the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia or a political subdivision thereof <br />without advertisement and receipt of bids; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Port Authority is a political <br />subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems this use to be in the <br />best interest of the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to convey to the Virginia Port Authority <br />the following described parcels of land, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail those certain pieces or parcels of <br />land, totaling 1.373 acres, being described <br />according to the present street numbering <br />system of the City of Portsmouth as 153, 173, <br />179, 184, 182, 174, 172, 170, 160, 158, 156, <br />154 and 150 Industrial Avenue; and 315, 317, <br />323, and 325 Lee Avenue; and an unnumbered <br />parcel being designated as Map Parcel <br />0098-0280 on the City Assessor's records. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to sign such deeds and other documents as <br />may be necessary to complete this transaction. <br /> <br /> <br />
