79 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 7 TO THE NORTHSIDE <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE NORTHSIDE REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 9, 1966, <br />approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Northside <br />Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for <br />the project area, which Plan consists of 16 pages and 2 <br />exhibits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Amendment No. 7 proposes <br />time during which the Plan will be <br />applicable to land conveyed within <br /> <br />to extend the periods of <br />effective and made <br />the project area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has resolved that this Amendment is in the best interest of <br />the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those <br />prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, <br />creed, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the judgement of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />Amendment be approved. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Amendment No. 7 to the Redevelopment Plan for the <br />Northside Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed <br />and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Northside Redevelopment <br />Project, Pc~tsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by <br />the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 7 to <br />a~ea meets the requirements of a <br />project pursuant to Chapter 1 of <br />Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br />the Plan for the project <br />plan for a redevelopment <br />Title 36 of the Code of <br /> <br />2.
