77 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 6 TO THE MOUNT HERMON <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE MOUNT HERMON <br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted September 12, 1972, <br />approved a Conservation~nd Redevelopment Plan for the Mount <br />Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, <br />Virginia (Plan); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration <br />and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, <br />which Plan consists of 22 pages and 3 exhibits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Amendment No. 6 proposes to extend the periods of time <br />during which the Plan will be effective and made applicable to <br />land conveyed within the project area; snd <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has <br />resolved that this Amendment is in the best interest of the <br />City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are <br />imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting <br />discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or <br />national origin; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the judgement of this Council it is in the interest <br />of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment be <br />approved. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Amendment No. 6 to~ the~ Conservation and Redevelopmen~ <br />Plan for the Mount Hermon Conservation and Redevelopment <br />Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, it it hereby <br />found: <br /> <br />- (a) That the objectives of the Mount Hermon Conservation <br />and Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better <br />achieved by the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 6 to the Plan for the Project area <br />meets the requirements of a plan for a conservation and <br />redevelopment pro~ect pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br />2. That Amendment No. 6 to the Mount Hermon Conservation and <br />Redevelopment Plan for thee Mount Hermon Conservation and <br />Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, <br />is hereby approved and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file <br />a copy of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
