76 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE OLDE TOWNE <br />CONSERVATION PLAN FOR THE OLDE TOWNE CONSERVATION PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted May 14, 1968 <br />approved a Conservation Plan for the Olde Towne <br />ConservatiDn Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for <br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for <br />the project a~ea, which Plan consists of 5 pages and 2 <br />exhibits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Amendment No. 3 proposes to extend the periods of <br />time during which the Plan will be effective, modifies the <br />Plan narrative so as to be consistent with the other <br />conservation districts, and amends the Project boundaries <br />to coincide with the Olde Towne Historic District <br />boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has resolved that this Amendment is in the best interest of <br />the City's renewal effort; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that <br />a~e imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community <br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those <br />prohibiting discrimination because of ~ace, age, color, <br />c~eed, sex or national origin; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in the <br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said <br />~mendment is approved. ~ <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Amendment No. 3 t~ the Conservation Plan for the <br />Olde Towne Conservation Project, having been duly reviewed <br />and considered, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Olde Towne ConservatIon <br />Project, Portsmouth, virginia, can be better achieved by <br />the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 3 to the Plan fo~ the p~oject <br />area meets the requirements of a plan for a conservation <br />project pumsuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Code of <br />Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> <br />
