52 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPROVAL BY THE STATE WATER CONTROL <br />BOARD OF AN APPLICATION OF COGENTRIX, INC., FOR A PERMIT TO <br />DRILL TWO DEEP WELLS FOR USE IN CONNECTION WITH ITS <br />COGENERATION PLANT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cogentrix, Inc., has made application to the <br />State Water Control Board for a permit to drill two deed wells <br />and withdraw 2.0-2.8 million gallons per day for coolin~ water <br />use in connection with its cogeneration plant under <br />construction in Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the use of nondrinking quality well water would <br />reduce the amount of water to be withdrawn from Portsmouth's <br />water treatment system thereby enhancing the reserve capacity <br />of the system for future growth of the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the State Water Control Board <br />be, and hereby is, requested to approve the application of <br />Cogentrix, Inc., for a permit to drill two deep wells to be <br />used in connection with its cogeneration plant on property in <br />Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she <br />hereby is, directed to forward a copy of this resolution to <br />the State Water Control Board. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held May 26, 1987. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
