AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF SHIPWRIGHT STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Herbert A. Haneman, Jr. has made application to <br />vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described <br />portion of Shipwright Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted February <br />9, 1988, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing said portion of Shipwright <br />Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing <br />and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described <br />portion of Shipwright Street be closed and vacated as a <br />public street. <br /> <br />SHIPWRIGHT STREET <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point in the southern right- <br />of-way of Shipwright Street approximately 276.5' <br />southwest of the intersection of the southern <br />right-of-way of Shipwright Street and the western <br />right-of-way of ~ariner Avenue (formerly 4th <br />Street) ("the point of beginning"); the point of <br />beginning being further identified as the point <br />which is the intersection of the southwest corner <br />of the property now or~ormerty owned by <br />Associated Naval Architects, Inc., and the <br />northeast intersection of the property presently <br />owned by Herbert A. Haneman, Jr., Helen H. Gould <br />and Mary H. Dixon; thence from the point of <br />beginning proceeding N 23° 57' 42" W a distance <br />of 20.0' to a point; thence turning and running <br />S 66° 02' 18" W a distance of 119.9' to a point; <br />thence turning S 23° 57' 42" E a distance of 20.0' <br />to a point; thence turning and running N 66° 02' <br />18" E a distance of 119.9' to the point of <br />beginning. <br /> <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth <br />reserves unto itself perpetual easements, rights and <br />privileges to install, maintain, operate, and replace gas <br />mains, sewer mains, sewer drains, sanitary sewers, storm <br />drains, water mains and laterals, electric power lines and <br />telephone lines within, over, under and across those <br />portions of the hereinabove named street. <br /> <br /> <br />
