AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF SHIPWRIGHT STREET. WHEREAS, Herbert A. Haneman, Jr. has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of Shipwright Street; and WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted February 9, 1988, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter described portion of said street and to report in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience would result from discontinuing said portion of Shipwright Street; and WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing and discontinuing of said street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described portion of Shipwright Street be closed and vacated as a public street. SHIPWRIGHT STREET Beginning at a point in the southern right- of-way of Shipwright Street approximately 276.5' southwest of the intersection of the southern right-of-way of Shipwright Street and the western right-of-way of ~ariner Avenue (formerly 4th Street) ("the point of beginning"); the point of beginning being further identified as the point which is the intersection of the southwest corner of the property now or~ormerty owned by Associated Naval Architects, Inc., and the northeast intersection of the property presently owned by Herbert A. Haneman, Jr., Helen H. Gould and Mary H. Dixon; thence from the point of beginning proceeding N 23° 57' 42" W a distance of 20.0' to a point; thence turning and running S 66° 02' 18" W a distance of 119.9' to a point; thence turning S 23° 57' 42" E a distance of 20.0' to a point; thence turning and running N 66° 02' 18" E a distance of 119.9' to the point of beginning. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth reserves unto itself perpetual easements, rights and privileges to install, maintain, operate, and replace gas mains, sewer mains, sewer drains, sanitary sewers, storm drains, water mains and laterals, electric power lines and telephone lines within, over, under and across those portions of the hereinabove named street.
