50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />LEASE AGREEMENT WITH VIRGINIA PORT AUTHORITY FOR 2.46 ACRES <br />OF PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THE NISSAN PROPERTY ON MARTIN LUTHER <br />KING FREEWAY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has recently acquired 2.46 acres of <br />property adjacent to the Nissan property on Martin Luther <br />King Freeway; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Port Authority has agreed to lease the <br />subject property for the purpose of vehicle and equipment <br />storage at the rate of $1,230.00 per month; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Port Authority has further agreed to <br />clear and landscape the subject property pursuant to plans to <br />be approved by the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.09(c) of the Charter of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, provides that the City may convey an <br />interest in real property to the Commonwealth of Virginia, or <br />a political subdivision thereof, without advertisement and <br />receipt of bids; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Port Authority is a political <br />subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and <br />hereby is, authorized to enter into a lease agreement with <br />Virginia Port Authority for 2.46 acres of property adjacent <br />to the Nissan property on Martin Luther King Freeway, <br />pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in this <br />resolution. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 26, 1988. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
