A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 17 TO THE CRAWFORD CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT. WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1, 1967, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and WHEREAS, there has been preSented to this body for consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, which Plan consists of 15 pages and 4 exhibits; and WHEREAS, Amendment No. 17 proposes to clarify the requirement of observance of all applicable City ordinances, makes other technical corrections, designates additional property as "To Be Acquired", and extends the Olde Towne South Conservation Area's southern boundary to include those properties on the south si~e of South Street; and WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has resolved that this Amendment is in tile best interest of the City's renewal effort; and WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment is approved. the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Amendment No. 17 to the Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of sai~ Amendment to the Plan. (b) That Amendment No. 17 to project area meets the requirements of a renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of of Virginia, 1950, as amended. the Plan for the plan for an urban Title 36 of the Code
