27 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF JAMES J. WAYLAND, JR., <br />PURCHASE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON HARRIS STREET; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY SAID PROPERTY SUBJECT TO <br />CONDITIONS. <br /> <br />TO <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth owns certain hereinafter <br />described real property, consisting of 0.95 acres, on the <br />south side of Harris Street, which property is no longer <br />required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be <br />excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.09 of the Charter of the <br />City of Portsmouth said property has been advertised for sale <br />and development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James J. Wayland, Jr., has offered to Durchase <br />said property for the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars to be <br />developed for five single family dwellings on minimum 7,500 <br />square foot lots and to relocate existing drainage at his <br />expense; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmo6th, <br />Virginia, deems it to be in the best interest of the City for <br />said property to be developed in accordance with the offer <br />submitted by James J. Wayland, Jr. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the offer of James J. <br />Wayland, Jr., to purchase the hereinafter described real <br />property for the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars be, and the <br />same hereby is, acce~ted. S&id 'p~operty being more <br />particularly described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of land, <br />situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />on the east side of Harris Street 115' feet <br />north from the north east intersection of <br />Harris Street and Afton Parkway; thence <br />running N 26° 15' 00" E 332.18' to a point; <br />thence S 232° 18' 30" E 284.97' to a point; <br />thence S 70° 46' 23" W 206.62'; thence N 63° <br />45' 00" W 56.97 To the point of begInning. <br />(A 30' draiaage easement on said property). <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to sign such deeds and other documents <br />as may be necessary to convey the subject property and to <br />carry out the intent of this resolution, subject to the <br />following conditions: <br /> <br /> <br />
