12 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING TO THE <br />VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />has established the Department of Museums to coordinate the <br />City's cultural activities within the boundaries of the City; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Commission for the Arts provides <br />funding to enhance local cultural programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit <br />grant applications for funding pursuant to regulations <br />governing the administration and use of such funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia endorses an application for <br />funding to provide support for "Challenges", an exhibit of <br />works by disabled Virginian artists, which will open on <br />October 7, 1988 and will coincide with Governor Gerald L. <br />Baliles's Proclamation of October as "Disabled Awareness <br />Month," and will travel to SlX other cities following the <br />Portsmouth exhibition. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby <br />is, authorized to submit an application for such funding and <br />~o execute any and all documents as may be required thereby. <br /> <br /> A~opted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meesing held February 23, 1988. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
