82 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 18 TO THE CRAWFORD CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT. WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1, 1967, approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, which Plan consists of 15 Dages and 4 exhibits; and WHEREAS, Amendment No. 18 proposes to make corrections and designate additional properties Acquired"; and technic ~1 as "To Be WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has resolved that this Amendment is in the best interest of the City's renewal effort; and WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, creed, sex or national origin; and WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council it is in interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved. the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Amendment No. 18 to the Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Crawford Urban Renewal Pro3ect, having been duly reviewed and considered, it is hereby found: (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Pcrtsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. (b) That Amendment No. 18 to the Plan for the pro3ect area meets the requirements of a plan for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
