66 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF CHISHOLM FOUNDATION, INC. FOR DESIGNATION AS A CHARITABLE AND BENEVOLENT ORGANIZATION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SECTION 6 (6) OF ARTICLE X OF THE CONSTITUTION OF VIRGINIA. (a) WHEREAS, in accordance with S30-19.04 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 11, 1988 no consider the application for exemption from taxes filed on behalf of Chisholm Foundation, Inc. for property located within the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and used by the applicant exclusively for charitable and benevolent purposes on a non-profit basis as set forth in S58.1-3650 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia has examined and considered the provisions of ~30-19.04 (B) of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, with ~espect to the petition of Chisholm Foundation, Inc.. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESCLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia supports the reauest of Chisholm Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, for designation as a charitable and benevolent organization within the context of ~6 (a) (6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia and that its proDerty located within the City of Portsmouth, owned by it and used by it exclusively fo~ charitable and benevolent purposes on a non-prcfit basis, be determined to be exempt from taxation in accordance with ~58.1-3650 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be~ and she hereby is, directed to forward copies of this Resolution to State Senator Johnny So Joannou and Delegates william S. Moore, Jr. and Kenneth R. Melvin. Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held November 8, 1988. Teste: City Clerk
