54 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF MR. & MRS. CLIFFORD GAINEY <br />TO PURCHASE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ON CHARLESTON AVENUE; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter-described real <br />property located on Charleston Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is no longer required for public <br />purposes and is, her~eby, declared to be excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the property has been advertised for sale <br />pursuant to the terms of Section 2.09 of the Charter of <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br />the <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Gainey has submitted a <br />of $2,400.00 for purchase of the property to be used as <br />additional yard; and <br /> <br />bid <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best <br />interest of the City to sell said property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of Mr. & Mrs. Clifford <br />Gainey to purchase the hereinafter-described real property for <br />the sum of S2,400.00 be, and the same hereby is, accepted. <br />Said property being described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain lot of land, situate <br />in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and <br />designated as lot number one (1) in block <br />sixteen (16) on the plat of the Prentis <br />Park Corporation recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of Norfolk County in Map Book 7, <br />page 93, and bounded and described as <br />follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Beginning at the southwest intersection <br />of Charleston Avenue and the right-of-way <br />of the Atlantic and Danville Railroad, and <br />from thence running south along the eastern <br />line of Charleston Avenue forty-five (45) <br />feet, more or less, to the line of lot number <br />two in said block; thence west along the line <br />of lot number two (2) one hundred (100) feet; <br />thence north to said right-of-way line; and <br />thence east along said right-of-way line to <br />the point of beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to sign such contracts, deeds or other <br />documents that may be necessary to carry out the intent of <br />this resolution. <br /> <br /> <br />
