AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 38-83, THEREOF, PERTAINING <br />TO METER RATES FOR WATER SUPPLIED. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 38-83 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended and reordained as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-83. Meter rates for water supplied. <br /> <br /> (a) For all water which passes through meters, consumers <br />within the corporate limits of the City shall pay one dollar <br />and forty-five cents ($1.45) per one thousand (1,000) gallons <br />or one dollar and eight and forty-seven hundredths cents <br />(1.0847), per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through the meters of the <br />City of Chesapeake pursuant to contract, the City of <br />Chesapeake shall pay two dollars and seventeen and one-half <br />cents ($2.175) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or one dollar <br />and sixty-two and seventy-one hundredths cents ($1.6271) per <br />one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. For all water <br />which passes through meters, the customers of the City of <br />Chesapeake who are served by Portsmouth and whose rates ~are <br />not set by contract shall pay two dollars an~ seventy-five <br />cents ($2.75) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or two dollars <br />and five and seventy-three hundredths cents (s2.0573) per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (c) For all waner which passes through meters to the <br />City of Suffolk pursuant to contract, the City of Suffolk <br />shall pay one dollar and thirty-two and eighty eight <br />hundredths cents (1.3288) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or <br />ninety-nine and forty-one hundredths cents ($0.9941) per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> 2. This ordinance shall take effect July 1, 1989 and <br />shall be applicable to all bills rendered after July 1, 1989. <br /> <br /> <br />
