AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF WOODROW STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Herbert L. and Francis W. Halley have made <br />application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter <br />described portion of Woodrow Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted November <br />14, 1989, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing said portion of Woodrow <br />Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br /> in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing <br />'and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described <br />portion of Woodrow Street be closed and vacated as a public <br />street. <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of land <br />known as Woodrow Street (formerly Fifth <br />Street) beginning at the northeast <br />intersection of Woodrow Street and Chautauqua <br />Avenue, thence east along the northern <br />right-of-way of Woodrow Street, 140 feet more <br />or less to a 15 foot alley; thence south along <br />the 15 foot alley 50 feet to the southern <br />right-of-way of Woodrow Street; thence west <br />along the southerm right-of--way of Woodrow <br />Street 140 fee~, more or less, to the eastern <br />right-of-way of Chautauqua Avenue, thence <br />north along the eastern right-of-way of <br />Chautauqua Avenue 50 feet to the point of <br />beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />reserves unto itself a perpetual easement, right and privilege <br />to install, operate, maintain and replace sewer mains, sewer <br />drains, sanitary sewers and electric power lines over, under <br />and across the hereinabove described portion of Woodrow <br />Street. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held January 23, 1990. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br /> <br />
