AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 22-1, 22-3, <br />22-82, 22-123, 22-348, 22-349, 22-395, 22-397, 22-423, 22-424, <br />22-426, 22-582, AND 22-709, THEREOF, PERTAINING TO MOTOR <br />VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 22-1, 22-82, 22-123, 22-348, 22-349, <br />22-395, 22-397, 22-423, 22-424, 22-426, 22-582, and 22-709 of <br />the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 22-1. Definitions.- <br /> <br /> The words and phrases used in this chapter shall, for the <br />purposes of this chapter, have the meanings respectively <br />ascribed to them in section 46.2-100 of the Code of Virginia <br />as in effect on July 1, 1990, except in those instances where <br />the context clearly indicates a different meaning. <br /> <br />Section 22-82. Payment of personal property taxes <br /> prerequisite to licensing. <br /> <br /> No license shall be issued under this article unless an~ <br />until the applicant for such license shall have produced <br />satisfactory evidence before the commissioner of the revenue <br />that all personal property taxes upon the motor vehicle, <br />trailer or semitrailer to be licensed have been paid, or that <br />tangible personal property taxes on any tangible personal <br />property used or usable as a dwelling titled by the department <br />of motor vehicles owned by the taxpayer have been paid, and <br />satisfactory evidence that any delinquent motor vehicle, <br />trailer or semitrailer personal property taxes owing have been <br />paid, and satisfactory evidence that delinquent tangible <br />personal property taxes on any tangible personal property used <br />or usable as a dwelling titled by the department of motor <br />vehicles owing by the taxpayer have been paid, either of which <br />have been properly assessed or are assessable against the <br />applicant by the city. <br /> <br />Section 22-123. <br /> <br />Sirens, exhaust whistles or air horn on <br />emergency vehicles. <br /> <br /> Every police vehicle and every vehicle authorized to be <br />equipped with emergency lights pursuant to sections 46.2-1022 <br />and 46.2-1023 of the Code of Virginia, shall be equipped with <br />a siren, exhaust whistle or air horn designed to give <br />automatically intermittent signals of a type not prohibited by <br /> <br /> <br />
