<br />A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF
<br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH TO THE WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL
<br />VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM AND THEIR COACHES ON WINNING THE GROUP
<br />AAA DIVISION FIVE VIRGINIA STATE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
<br />CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 1989.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Woodrow Wilson High School Varsity Football
<br />Team has won the 1989 Group AAA Division Five Virginia State
<br />High School Football Championship; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Woodrow Wilson High School Varsity Football
<br />Team members are Aaron Sparrow, Winchaus Hayes, Ray Hicks,
<br />Darren Sparrow, Corey Gause, Van Edwards, Bruce Deloatch,
<br />Richard Price, Morris Winston, MiKe Atkins, John Simon, Troy
<br />Nowlin, Kevin Hooker, Timmie Morris, Hiawatha Brown, Rodney
<br />Southall, Anthony Odom, Paul Jarman, Karriem Johnson, Edward
<br />Braud, Chuckie Cummings, Steven Hales, Timmy Burkett, Melvin
<br />Harrell, Virgil Moore, Antonio Hines, Philtip Freeman, Hugh
<br />Hunter, Dwight Wiggins, Corey Hall, Sanford Dowell, Curtis
<br />Swann, Anthony Brown, Ronald Boone, Ricky King, Herbert Gibbs,
<br />Kevin Auston; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Woodrow Wilson High School Varsity Football
<br />Team was honored by having three of its players, Timmie
<br />Morris, Antonio Hines, and Winchaus Hayes named to the
<br />Associated Press All-Group AAA Football Team; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Coach of the Woodrow Wilson High School
<br />Varsity Football Team, Darnell Moore, has been named Coach of
<br />the Year by the Associated Press in this classification; and
<br />ably assisted by Assistant Coaches Harrell Prince, Danny Hill,
<br />Joe Ladisic, Charles Richardson, and Keith Rogers; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Woodrow Wilson High School Varsity Football
<br />Team by its successful athletic achievements as a team, and by
<br />the individual achievements of the members of the team and
<br />coach and his staff, and all of the persons affiliated with
<br />the team, have represented their School and the City of
<br />Portsmouth in a commendable manner throughout the Commonwealth
<br />of Virginia.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Council hereby extends its
<br />congratulations to the Woodrow wilson High School Varsity
<br />Football Team and their Coach and Coaching staff on winning
<br />the Group AAA Division Five Virginia High School Football
<br />Championship for 1989.
