40 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN <br />APPLICATION FOR A CHESAPEAKE BAY LOCAL ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT <br />GRANT TO OFFSET COSTS OF IMPLEMENTING THE CHESAPEAKE BAY <br />PRESERVATION ACT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to comply with the provisions of the <br />Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, will be required to implement major changes in its <br />development review procedures, its ordinances, and its <br />Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia, through the <br />Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department, has made available <br />to localities, on a competitive basis, certain funds to help <br />defray th~ A~t'_s~mplementation costs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit a <br />grant application for such funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth that the Council does hereby endorse the <br />application for funds to offset the costs of complying with <br />requirements of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to submit said application for the <br />grant, certifying compliance by the City of Portsmouth with <br />the appropriate regulations governing the administration and <br />use of these funds. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of tke City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at meeting held May 22, 1990. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
