RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on the 8th day of September, 1990, death <br />brought to a close the active life of Mr. Robert W. Wentz, <br />Jr., a former Vice Mayor of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Robert W. Wentz, Jr. served the City of <br />Portsmouth and its citizens with distinction as a Vice <br />Mayor, School Board Member, President of the Portsmouth <br />General Hospital Board, and leader in civic and cultural <br />activities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he gave generously of his time and energy in <br />the interest of the citizens of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he was an avid photography enthusiast and <br />authored a book entitled "Portsmouth: A Pictorial History"; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the stature he attained in the community by <br />his exemplary life and monumental achievements were well <br />recognized during his lifetime; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the community has suffered a great loss in the <br />passing of Robert W. Wentz, Jr. and join with his family, <br />friends, and associates in mourning his death. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the sympathy of this <br />body, acting for the citizens of this City be, and hereby <br />is, extended to the family of t~e late Robert W. Wentz, Jr.. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread <br />upon the Minutes of the Council, and that a copy thereof be <br />presented to his family in recognition of his service and <br />respected stature in this community. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held November 27, 1990. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
