75 <br /> <br />A RESOSUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT PROPERTY <br />LOCATED ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF EIGHTH AND JEFFERSON <br />STREETS FROM PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF A PERMANENT RECREATION SITE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to abandon a recreation site <br />located on the Northeast corner of Fifth and Fayette Streets, <br />the site hereinafter described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />Beginning at the southeast intersection of Nelson <br />and Fifth Streets; thence east along the south <br />right-of-way of Nelson Street 220'+ to a point; <br />thence south 70'+ to a point; thence west 20'~ to <br />a point; thence Youth 75'+ to a point; thence- <br />east 70'+ to a point; thence south 90'+ to the <br />north ri~ht-of-way of Fayette Street; Thence west <br />along said right-of-way 290'+ to the east <br />right-of-way of Fifth Street~ thence north along <br />said right-of-way 240'+ to the south right-of-way <br />of Nelson Street, the point of beginning, a copy <br />of which is attached hereto, and marked "Exhibit <br /> <br />However, said property is currently restricted into <br />perpetuity for recreation, under a grant arrangement with the <br />National Park Service, pursuant to requirements and <br />regulations outlined in Section 10-10 of the URBAN PARKS AND <br />RECREATION operations manual; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to convert the property at <br />Eighth and Jefferson Streets to this same purpose with all <br />above cited restrictions, as an exchange for the Fifth and <br />Fayette Streets property, thereby relieving all restrictions <br />from the Fifth and Fayette Streets property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and <br />he hereby is, authorized to accept from the Portsmouth <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority the hereinafter-described <br />property, to-wit: <br /> <br />Beginning at the northwest intersection of <br />Jefferson Street and Eighth Street; thence <br />wgsterly along the north right-of-way of <br />Jefferson Street 338.81 feet to a point; thence <br />north 371.00 feet to a point; thence east 213.37 <br />feet to the west right-of-way of Eighth Street; <br />thence southerly along said right-of-way 283.52 <br />feet to the point of beginning, a copy of which <br />is attached hereto, and marked "Exhibit B". <br /> <br /> <br />
