34 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION HONORING THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF TYRONE <br />AREA OF VOLUNTEERISM. <br /> <br />HINES IN THE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Tyrone Hines is a recipient of the 1991 <br />Governor's Award for Volunteering Excellence; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Hines' accomplishments as a volunteer have <br />distinguished him as a citizen who has successfully addressed <br />the concerns and needs of his community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Hines' many accomplishments include the <br />formation of the Mount Hermon Athletic Association which <br />sponsors baseball, tee ball, and basketball teams in <br />conjunction with the Little League Program thus providing 28 <br />athletic teams for six City housing projects; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Hines' efforts have benefited the public <br />housing communities and our entire City by teaching the <br />lessons of hard work, dedication, economics and greater <br />neighborhood cooperation to achieve desired goals; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for more than 15 years, Mr. Hines has given <br />unselfishly of his time, energy, intellect and other resources <br />to provide positive activities and opportunities for the <br />children and parents of our City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Hines' efforts have contributed to the <br />improvement of the image of the housing project communities in <br />the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the CQuncil does hereby express <br />its appreciation and pride in the a6hievements of Mr. Tyrone <br />Hines in the public housing communities, this City, and in the <br />area of volunteerism. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution <br />spread upon the minutes of this Council and that a copy be <br />presented to Mr. Hines in recognition of his achievements. <br /> <br />be <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held June 25, 1991. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
