AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 38-83, THEREOF, PERTAINING TO METER RATES FOR WATER SUPPLIED. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1o That Section Portsmouth, Virginia, follows: 38-83 of the Code of the City of 1988, be amended and reordained as Section 38-83. Meter rates for water supplied. (a) For all water which passes through meters, consumers within the corporate limits of the C~ty shall pay one dollar and sixty cents ($1.60) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or one dollar and nineteen and seventy hundredths cents ($1.1970), per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. (b) For all wa~er which passes through meters, the customers of the City of Chesapeake who are served by Portsmouth and whose rates are not set by contract shall pay two dollars and seventy-five cents ($2.75) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or two dollars and five and seventy-three hundredths cents ($2.0573) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. (c) For all water which passes through the meters of the City of Chesapeake pursuant to contract, the City of Chesapeake shall pay two dollars and seventy-five cents ($2.75) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or two dollars and five and seventy-three hundredths cents ($2.0573) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. (d) For all water which passes through meters to the City of Suffolk pursuant to contract, the City of Suffolk shall pay one dollar and forty-six and sixty-five hundredths cents ($1.4665) per one thousand (1,000) gallons or one dollar and nine and seventy-one hundredths cents ($1.0971) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. 2. This ordinance shall take effect July 1, 1991 and shall be applicable to all bills rendered after July 1, 1991.
