AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 16-64 AND <br />16-65 (a) AND REPEALING SECTION 16-66 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO <br />REFUSE COLLECTION FEES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 16-64 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 16-64. <br /> <br />Rates for dwelling units and certain other <br />establishments. <br /> <br /> The service charge for the collection and disposal of <br />trash and garbage from any dwelling unit and any other <br />establishment not subject to the charges imposed by Section <br />16-65 shall be at the rate of nine dollars ($9.00) per month <br />per dwelling unit or, in the case of such other <br />establishments, at the rate of nine dollars ($9.00) per month <br />for each such other establishment. The charges imposed under <br />this section shall be billed with the statement rendered for <br />water and sewer charges. <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 16-65 (a) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 16-65. Rates for standard containers. <br /> <br /> (a) Where garbage and refuse are stored in <br />thirty-two (32) gallon containers or the equivalent thereof, <br />the charge for each three month period shall be based upon the <br />volume of refuse normally generated for the particular class <br />of business, and the rate shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Collections <br />per week <br /> <br />Standard containers <br /> per collection <br /> <br />Minimum charge <br />per quarter <br /> <br />2 0 to 4 $ 27.00 <br />2 5 to 8 54.00 <br />2 9 to 12 81.00 <br /> <br />3 0 to 4 45.00 <br />3 5 to 8 90.00 <br />3 9 to 12 135.00 <br /> <br /> <br />
